Ruth has a background in dance and physical theatre and as an established theatre-trained Actor (UWS Theatre Nepean), improv artist, puppeteer, and drama tutor/coach with 30 years in the industry, and after undertaking a Diploma in ‘Screen and Media’ study at the Canberra Institute of Technology, Ruth has emerged as a filmmaker, producing award winning shorts, and launching her own business to make Showreels for actors. Her company’s mission is to inspire and encouraging artists to support one another, in order to strengthen, diversify, and share best arts practices in our region.
Ruth has facilitated performance workshops in schools, corporate settings, with theatre companies, performing arts institutions, and youth theatre companies, conducting workshops in Canberra, Sydney, Hobart, regional Tasmania (Terrapin Puppet Theatre), Uni of NSW & Western Sydney Uni, Cowra, Cooma, Wagga Wagga, Wollongong, Merimbula, Pambula, & Moruya. Ruth has taught at Radford College of Performing Arts, McDonald College of Performing Arts, Kambala Girls School, Kincoppal, Scotts College, ATYP Bus, Stop Films (ACT), Canberra Youth Theatre (resident tutor for 10 years), Impro ACT, Rebus Theatre, Mockingbird Studios (Belconnen Arts Centre), and now at the Mill theatre with ACT4Reel.
Ruth Pieloor teaches workshops in Screen acting, Improv, Devising theatre, Acting, Public Speaking, Voice, Movement, Character Development, Mime, Trance Mask, Commedia Dell'Arte, Poi Juggling, Object Theatre, Puppetry, Meisner, Practical Aesthetics (Mamet), Suzuki, Ensemble, Collective Collaboration, Laban, Stage Combat, Playback Theatre, and Clowning.
Ruth’s passion is for creating and honouring social and communication skills that support and develop both individuals and groups, so that they can generate confidence, make connections, develop craft, discover skills, build community, and nurture positive social outcomes.
